Poem on the need for drink breaks when problems seem immediate to put them into better perspective. Sometimes problems happen and they are out of our hands.
Thanks. I wasn’t sure how this one would be taken. It was just a little fun poem I came up with. I was being a little cheeky with this one. But I do think there is a lesson to be learned in it.
Even when everything goes wrong around you, you can still own the space you occupy and chill out with a drink rather than letting things phase you.
I absolutely agree, and I live my life in such a way. I’m not as eloquent as to write a poem describing my thoughts, rather I simply say to myself “so be it” on the daily.
That is a good one. Another good phrase that I learned from stoicism is “It seems so to him.” I need to use that phrase more often. It just captures a lot. It puts opinions, beliefs and judgement into their proper context and makes it harder to take offence. For the hurt is done to the one that believes a lie, that is deceived. Perhaps I should write a poem about it some time?
That would be an excellent poem, and I’ll add that saying to my lexicon. I grew up in a household made entirely of women. An absent father (I don’t blame him), an overbearing mother, and three sisters. I was always the mediator, and that taught me to see things from several points of view. That and many other side effects of my upbringing makes me blessed.
It would. It comes from the Enchiridion. Have you read that one? That particular quote stood out to me in it. I need to pick up some more books on ancient stoicism. Meditating on these quotes do help to be more detached, to get outside of your own head. I think more people in modern times could do with stoicism. People get offended or attached to bad things too easily rather than thinking of what is proper and right.
That was fun

No I haven’t, but I know that I should. I’ll bump it up on the list.
Now I need juice of orange :)
Don’t we all? I should get some for Christmas now.
I had too much fun with the newsman verse.
Great poem!
Thanks!
Everything is falling a part but at least there is still orange juice to sip.
